  • Mineralogical and geochemical composition and "cristallinity" of kaolinites in bauxitic clays of the Cantaperdius Fm and related bauxites in the Linking Zone of Iberian Range and Catalonian Coastal Ranges (NE, Spain) are considered. The range of FWHM values (found with the same experimental conditions, in whole sample powders) for kaolinite 001 reflection is 0,197-0,236º (2q). Variability in the composition of bauxites as well as in kaolinite "crystallinity" among the bauxite types is studied considering the sedimentological and paleogeographical background. The observed variations are in ageement with the stablished genetic system producing bauxite of type I deposits from bauxitic clays of types II-III, and that from marls of related formations.
