To give meaning to the idea of a description of experience, henomenology needs to build a concept of it opposing it to other kinds of possible experiences. The reference to the animal helps us building the field of the "phenomenological" in constructing an otherness in relation to which the idea of a description and a characterization of experience can make sense. The question is no longrer to characterize the man compared to the animal or the animal compared to the man, but to practice a zigzag between provisional concepts, which are the poles of this dialectic.
