Resumen de La teoría de la causalidad aristotélica: una aportación a la biología contemporánea

El presente estudio se centra en la teoría de la causalidad de Aristóteles y su posición dentro de las ciencias de la filosofía de la naturaleza. A la vez se hace una relación con la actual teoría de la evolución de origen darwiniano, partiendo de que Darwin mismo se considera explícitamente aristotélico, para mostrar que hay una ambigüedad en el modo de abordar hoy esta temática, sobre todo en el pensamiento biológico y de filosofía de la ciencia: se intenta hacer ver que al no distinguir bien el objeto de las ciencias se incurre en afirmaciones que se adentran en el ámbito de la metafísica, sin distinguir la diferencia, lo cual es un error metodológico y epistémico. La conclusión pretende probar que el pensamiento de Aristóteles sigue siendo actual dentro del nivel en el que se inserta su investigación, y por ello aún puede dar luz a la ciencia moderna y a la filosofía de la naturaleza actual.

This paper centers on the Aristotelian theory of causality, its position within science, specifically within the science of Natural Philosophy. At the same time the paper relates its conclusions to Darwin´s evolutionary theory -which Darwin himself considers Aristotelian in character- and shows that this represents an incongruity because of the perspective he himself takes. Also, many recent and contemporary evolutionists fall into the same inconsistencies and make similar mistaken affirmations, due precisely to not considering the differences between sciences. Often these errors are really metaphysical assertions, even though those who make them deny the value of Metaphysics, or fail to distinguish it from the realm of science. Finally, the paper aims to show the relevance of Aristotelian thought in this issue, despite its divergences from the studies that reject it, and that Aristotle can in fact shed light in a significant way on contemporary Biology and on other sciences, such as Physics and Natural Philosophy.
