This article provides an introduction to the process approach to neuropsychological evaluation which emphasizes the importance of careful observation of the subject´s behavior as he or she formulates and tries our solutions to the testing tasks presented. The evaluation of the methods and trial -and- error patterns by which the subject arrives at solutions to the problems presented constitute a powerful diagnostic technique of neuropsychological functioning. The information obtained in this manner is useful for clinical intervention strategies as well as for research of dysfunction patterns underlying neurological disease.
