    • The acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) is a term that applies to the stages of the infection caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), this entering the organism affects the immune system changing or discontinuing its function; in an alike manner the nervous system is affected being the virus of the HIV neurotrophic, affecting its nervous cells, producing rupture of the neuronal cells. This is why the patients with HIV/AIDS present electroencephalographic abnormalities plus anomalies in the psychological assessment tending to present depression. At the same time this biological process is present in the infection; the person affected experiments an evolution as for his experience with this diagnostic, the emotional impact tends to be very tough thereby giving psychological problems, depression, psychosis or manias being the main problems.
