The aim of this study is to show, through the results of a gender and violence research in several fields and populations, the relevance to include Gender Perspective in the Psychology carrier curriculum. Gender violence causes physical, psychological and sociocultural damages. This violence represents one of the most extremes gender inequality forms (ENDIREH, 2006; Sanz, 2007). In Mexico two of each tree women suffer physical, emotional and psychological abuses during sentimental relationship like marriage, cohabitation and courtship (ENDIREH, 2007). Some results of the qualitative research demonstrate the impact of gender identities on unequal relationships that generates violence. Children in preschool perceive housework as a punishment for both sexes and conceive male and female emotions. Besides 30% of psychology students see homosexuality as a psychological problem. Inside family therapy gender perspective changed theoretical assumptions and clinical practice. Belong to a particular gender implies a social exclusion condition and a power imbalance that can produce inequitable situation and violent behaviors. Gender perspective make a more powerful and explanatory look, hence the relevance of its inclusion in university programs.
