In this paper, an analysis of recent advances in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSC) is done. A brief discussion about general principles of operation and efficiencies, as well as stability data is presented, and what are the parameters for characterization. Also, it is described the development of a system that allows monitoring of solar cells, manufactured with different natural dyes to determine their photoelectrochemical properties, employing for this virtual instrumentation. Data acquisition and statistical processing thereof is performed through graphical programming softwareThe system has facilities to measure, acquire and permanently displayed on the monitor screen data provide information on the performance of the solar cells, as well as environmental parameters such as temperature and the I-V curve of the solar cell.
