  • The national waste law establishes environmental policy instruments to regulate waste management plans that require it. The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) classified as Special Waste Management (SWM) should be considered in a management plan. In this work, a comparative analysis of the implementation of management plans for Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) of the States of the Mexican Republic was performed. To this end, a comparison matrix was developed to identify the relevant criteria for the implementation of management plans for waste electrical and electronic equipment on technical, social and institutional aspects. It was possible to identify the elements for the implementation of management plans REEE, also determined that the states of the northern border and northeast, and the Federal District, and some states of central Mexico have generated elements for the development of plans REEE handling. Finally, the results show the legal criteria that represent management plans and the implications of the technical, social and institutional aspects that need to integrate for implementation.
