This work presents a qualitative study to understand the perceptions of teachers of Career Information Technologies and Communication of the University of Technology Tecamachalco, about the term "professional skills" is performed. The interest arises because in September 2009 the model was implemented by professional skills in technological universities in the country and any change of educational paradigm takes a process of assimilation and implementation.
We would like to know how is perceiving this idea of teaching skills and how their work is changing in the classroom. For research use the semi-structured interview guide with questions seeking maximum variation sample whose size was emerging topic and saturation was achieved with eight subjects.
We found two important dimensions to the meaning of the term skills for teachers: the labor dimension, that is all related to the rapid insertion and retention in the workforce of graduates; and on teaching practice dimension, which has to do with what has changed in their daily actions to teach.
