  • Resumen
    • Syphilis is considered the most important diseases that can affect pregnancy. The methodology used in the present study was systematization of laboratory data. The results showed a total of 531 students , 62% (330) men .VDRL test results showed 2% of study population was reactive to syphilis among men and women , this rate is not as high as expected , and this prevalence is attributed to the social, economic and educational conditions ( sexual) orientation are deficient and therefore women are more susceptible to becoming infected with sexually transmitted diseases. The indices obtained reveal a serious problem , given the danger involved syphilis infection in pregnant women because of the possibility of premature abortions.

We conclude by applying Information, Education and Comunication programs that the most common risk factors in the population of San Lucas for infections with syphilis are the constant migration to other countries (Argentina, Spain, etc.), early age of pregnancy, and family history of inadequate sex education .
