  • The article looks at inequality in Greece, with a particular focus on the role of the elite in Greek politics and economics. According to the author, efforts at economic reform and a sovereign bailout by European authorities have strengthened rather than eliminated these inequalities. Details on the administration of Greek Prime Minister Kostas Karamanlis are presented. Topics discussed include the Greek electoral system, political control over appointments to the Greek civil service, and the political influence of the media.
