Resumen de Enfermedad crónica avanzada, padecimiento psíquico y Sistema General de Seguridad Social en Salud (SGSSS)

La enfermedad crónica produce ruptura de la vida cotidiana y comporta cambios fundamentales a nivel individual, familiar y social. Esta investigación indaga la significación que se da al modo cómo el Sistema General de Seguridad Social en Salud (SGSSS) responde a las demandas de atención en salud de esta población. La metodología cualitativa permitió comprender la dinámica y significados de los nexos que surgen de la interacción Enfermo - Sistema de Salud. Para sobrellevar las consecuencias impuestas por la enfermedad, se precisa contar con redes de apoyo, acudiéndose principalmente al SGSSS. Los hallazgos de la investigación revelan que a la experiencia de padecer una enfermedad crónica, se adiciona un padecimiento psíquico, producto de la atención inadecuada por parte del SGSSS.

Chronic diseases produce a rupture in quotidian life and imply fundamental changes at the individual, social and family levels. This study looks into the meaning given by patients to the response of the General Healthcare Security System regarding their demand of health services. The qualitative methodology allowed the comprehension of the dynamics and meanings of the links arising from the interaction between patients and the healthcare system. In order to endure the consequences derived from diseases, it is necessary to rely on support networks, being the Healthcare System the first instance. The findings of the present study reveal the psychological suffering associated to chronic diseases, given the inadequate attention of the General Healthcare Security System.
