    Don Pedro Casas es un personaje entre dos siglos, cuando la ciudad y provincia de Badajoz vive en enquistada pobreza, como encrucijada de guerras y asedios. Su talante trabajador y agradecido explica el hecho de que done prácticamente toda su fortuna, amasada en el trabajo y en el estudio, para promocionar a jóvenes pacenses que tenían cualidades intelectuales para realizar estudios universitarios. La Obra Pía de Jesús Nazareno, fundada por él, será la gran oportunidad para muchos jóvenes. La mayoría de ellos vuelven a su tierra y se convierten en extraordinario fermento para aportar a las �nuevas luces� los instrumentos necesarios para que el espíritu ilustrado florezca en esta tierra. Pudiera parecer un personaje de segunda o tercera �fila�, pero conocerlo nos confirmará que en la primera fila hay más de los que pensábamos.

    Mr. Pedro Casas is a historical figure whose life spans two centuries, when the city and province of Badajoz was in a state of abject poverty, at a crossroads between wars and sieges. His hardworking and joy filled disposition explains why he donated prctically all his fortune, obtained through work and study, to make it possible for young giftec�people from Badajoz� to study at university. The Jesus of Nazareth Pious Foundation, founded by him, was for many young people the opportunity of their lives. The mayority of them returned to their land and became an extraordinary inspiration for the �new thinkers� by profiding them with the necessary insturments for the flowering of the spirit of the enlightenment in this land. He could seem to be a second or third class figures but after studying him it is clear that there are more first class figures than we thought
