Resumen de Las crisis de subsistencias durante la segunda mitad del siglo XIX en Olivenza

Durante la segunda mitad del siglo XIX, se produjeron cinco crisis de subsistencias en Olivenza. En este trabajo se analizan, caracterizan y explican estas crisis; además, se señalan sus efectos socioeconómicos, así como las reacciones que presentan determinados grupos sociales e instituciones. Este estudio se basa metodológicamente en la historia económica de los precios. A partir de los Libros de Cuentas de la Santa Casa de Misericordia de Olivenza, se ha construido la serie de precios del trigo vendido por esta institución benéfica entre 1850 y 1901. La formación de la serie cronológica de estos precios ofrece una visión bastante acertada de las fluctuaciones y comportamientos de los mercados, en este caso, del trigo panificable, y de la coyuntura económica del momento.

During the second half of the nineteenth century, there were five subsistence crises. In this work we analyze, characterize and explain these crises. We will also highlight the socioeconomic effects, as well as the reactions that certain social groups and institutions have had. This study is based methodologically on the economic history of prices. From the account books of the Santa Casa de Misericordia in Olivenza, we have constructed a sequence of the wheat prices which have been sold by this charity between 1850 and 1901. The formation of the chronological sequence of these prices offers an enough accurate view of market fluctuations and behaviour, in this case, of bread wheat, and the current economic situation.
