Children and teachers use textbooks everyday to search for information, to make exercises, to guide the schoolwork. Textbooks are so important that we cannot picture a classroom routine without them. For this reason, we think it is important to check all the changes that has happen on the Mexican official textbooks since the Secretaría de Educación Pública (SEP) has created the Comisión Nacional de Libros de Texto Gratuitos (CONALITEG). On this paper, we try to make a comparative analysis of the different editions that has appear to facilitate the literacy skills. We study the textbook edition for first grade children, so we can observe their characteristics, their changes and their innovations.
