    • E-business has arrived with great force to the economic and business world. Although Spain is yet one step back from North America or other European countries, managers from the most important Spanish companies have quickly understood the importance of this tool as a way of gaining competitive advantage. Previously, however, it is essential for these firms to take advantage of the opportunities that E-business offers because otherwise, these opportunities may change themselves into important threats. Spanish companies are still on the first stage of the process and their efforts are centred on using E-business as a way of reducing costs or improving the efficiency of the organization. On a later stage they should look for the satisfaction of their customers so as to improve earnings, which should be the principal goal of the strategies of any company working on the electronic business. However, Spanish firms are still not prepared for the changes on the organizational structure and working ways that need to be implemented so that the organizations can assume this new phenomenon. That is why the number of transactions that take place on the web is still reduced, mainly because of security problems and the lack of clear plans and objectives.
