This paper presents a study of the patterns in two phase flow developed in a vertical tube of small diameter. The design and construction of the experimental setup allowed observed the flow regimes developed under different conditions of each fluid (air and water). The data obtained allowed the development of two types of flow maps commonly used to characterize the flow in two phases (gas and liquid) in vertical pipes. The results show a good correspondence of one of the maps developed in this work with those found in the literature, while the other map obtained differs considerably from those obtained by other authors. The analysis of the results obtained here allowed developing interesting conclusions about the relationship between the properties and conditions of two-phase flow and the development of different patterns flow.
