  • The Kaan Aktun (Cave Heaven), ecotourism park is a tourism project currently being developed at a comunity in Santo Domingo in the municipality of Maxcanú. This is most popular in the western region of the state of Yucatán. This project seeks the rational use of natural and cultural resources that exist in the community, so that through a set of activities of the alternative tourism which seeks to promote good environmental practices and provide visitors with a contact nature and the opportunity to participate in activities, traditions and lifestyles of the population, but sustainably.

    The proposed activities are characteristic of alternative tourism which is divided into ecotourism, rural tourism and adventure tourism and are chosen according to the type of place being the main natural attraction is an underground cenote.

    The purpose of the project is the creation of an ecotourism park to help develop alternative tourism in the west part of the state of Yucatan and provide alternative employment in rural communities.
