Resumen de Sob o signo da aliança: O projeto Kennedy e as representações da América

This article examines the conceptual framework of the two most important programs in foreign affairs proposed by President Kennedy: the Alliance for Progress and the Peace Corps. My intention is to evaluate how they embodied the philanthropic and messianic ideals of American political culture and how much the reality of interamerican relations and the experience of cultural interplay challenged some perceptions and concepts.

Este artigo dedica-se a discutir, através de duas iniciativas de política externa do governo Kennedy, elementos do imaginário político norte-americano. As concepções subjacentes aos programas da Aliança para o Progresso e dos Corpos da Paz são avaliadas em termos do grau de reprodução ou mudança que implicaram os planos discursivo e prático das relações interamericanas.
