    Durante el siglo XVII la Inquisición española sometió a un proceso de revisión de la censura, no solo de los mecanismos sino también de la imagen que desde práctica represora se ofrecía de la institución. En este artículo se analiza la reconstrucción de dicha imagen del poder del Santo Oficio, la reivindicación del expurgo como signo de identidad de la censura inquisitorial española frente a Roma y la exégesis bíblica con la que legitimaban esta forma de control de la cultura escrita.

    During the seventeenth century the Spanish Inquisition submitted censorship to a review process, not only the mechanisms but especially the image from repressive practice offered by the institution. This article discusses the reconstruction of the image of the power of the Inquisition, the expungement claim identity as a sign of Spanish inquisitorial censorship against Rome and biblical exegesis as the legitimation of this form of literacy control.
