Two stratigraphic successions covering most of the lithological record from the Lower, Intermediate and Upper Páramo, Miocene sequential units in the SE of Duero Basin, are correlated by means of magnetostratigraphy. The correlations is also based on the paleontological record and geological mapping and represents the first, although preliminary, magnetostratigraphic approach to the fluvial and lacustrine Miocene deposits of the Duero Basin. The composite magnetostratigraphic succession spans from chron C5AB to chron C4 Ar, which represents around 4.5 Ma, in the middle and upper Miocene, recorded by a 144 m thick succession. Tops of Lower and Upper Páramo units, are correlated with chrons C5Ar and C4Ar, with an interpolated age of 12.5 Ma, respectively. A possible hiatus between Lower and Intermediate, "Páramo" units has been also postulated.
