la Santa Escuela de Cristo de Valencia fue fundada el 21 de marzo de 1662, bajo el patrocinio del cortesano catalán, guillem de Montcada, IV marqués de aitona, así como por su confesor, el franciscano aragonés, Juan de Muniesa. Esta congregación fue creada a imagen y semejanza de la existente en la Corte, que había iniciado sus actividades, formal- mente, el 26 de febrero de 1653, recibiendo un impulso considerable cuando ingresó en sus filas, poco después, Juan Palafox y Mendoza, miembro del Consejo de aragón.
la relevancia social de los miembros que se adhirieron en Madrid, pero también en Va- lencia, nos permite afirmar que fue un importante lugar de sociabilidad que atrajo sectores importantes de las élites, tanto cortesanas, como periféricas de la segunda mitad del Seiscien- tos, un elemento más de amalgama entre ellas, en este caso basadas en una peculiar espiritua- lidad compartida.

the Holy School of Christ of Valencia was founded on the 21st March 1662 pa- tronized by the catalan courtier guillem de Moncada,4th Marquis of aitona, together with his confessor the aragonese franciscan Juan de Muniesa. this religious congregation was creat- ed to be just like the one existing in the court which had started its activities, formally, on the 26th february 1653, receiving major boost when Juan Palafox y Mendoza, member of the consel of aragon, joined the congregation.
the social grandeur of the memebers that joined the congregation not only in Madrid but also in Valencia, allow us to state that it was an important place of sociability which attracted important sections of the court and the peripherial elites of the second half of the seventeen century, one more thing of amalgam between these elites, in this case based on a peculiar shared spirituality.
