En un intento por contribuir con los procesos de gestión de la fauna silvestre en el municipio de Alcalá y validar los conocimientos tradicionales, se valoró este recurso a través de la investigación etnográfica. Esta investigación estimó la importancia de las aves y mamíferos silvestres para los habitantes del municipio por medio de entrevistas, talleres con agricultores - criadores y miembros de algunas instituciones del sector rural. Se encontró que los valores de uso directo de mayor peso fueron la observación, seguida de la cacería y la utilización de animales silvestres como mascotas, con 67, 52 y 32 especies respectivamente. En los valores de uso indirecto, el más representativo fue la apreciación negativa asignada a 40 especies, en su mayoría reptiles.

Trying to contribute to the process of wild animals gestion in the municipality of Alcalá and give a value to the traditional knowledge, a value was given to this resource through an ethnography investigation. This investigation estimated the importance that wild birds and mammals have for the people and some institutions in Alcalá. It was found that the highest values for direct uses were given to the observation, followed for the hunt and the last one was the use of animals as pets, with 67, 52 and 32 species respectively. Talking about the indirect uses, the most representative was the negative appreciation given to 40 species, mainly reptiles.
