The sedimentary record in the Leon province (Spain) has been divided into five Formations: Vegaquemada, Candanedo, Villarroquel, Mansillas de las Mulas and Barrillos. Four types of fluvial systems are recognized in the Miocene deposits of the Mansillas de las Mulas Formation cropping out in the province of Leon. The fluvial systems are interpreted as low sinuosity with gravel and sands load, high sinuosity with gravel and sands load. In this paper the sedimentary features of these fluvial systems are dscribed and the tectonic control on paleocurrents in discussed.
