The geochemical study of thirty one samples collected from the "Facies de las Cuestas" (Pecherroman, Segovia Province) has been done. Geochemical results have been correlated with the sedimentology and the mineralogical assemblages, in order to achieve a better knowledge of the diagenetic/pedogenic processes undergo for this materials in the sedimentary environment. In this way besides the heritage of detrical clays (made up of illite, kaolinite and/or smectite), neoformation and transformation of clay mineral forming procceses have been emphasized. The results let us to establish, at least, two the other linked to palygorskite formation by transformation of inherited clays. From a sedimentological point of view a lacustrine-palustrine environment is inferred in which the association of clay minerals suggests semiarid climatic conditions.
