La ayuda sanitaria internacional a la República Española: (1936-1939)

    La guerra civil española de 1936-1939 es sin duda el hecho más doloroso de nuestra historia contemporánea, por ello, cualquier estudio rigu roso de este periodo de la vida de nuestro país está plenamente justificado.

    El estudio que se presenta, síntesis de la tesis doctoral del mismo título, aborda aspectos de la contienda muy poco conocidos, que podemos agrupar en tres grandes apartados: El primero se dedica al análisis global del movimiento solida rio internacional, organizado durante el conflic to bélico, en favor de la España gubernamental.

    El segundo fija su punto de mira en un detalle concreto del anterior, la ayuda sanitaria. El ter cero -tratado en mayor profundidad- investiga el Servicio Sanitario Internacional, es decir, el apa rato sanitario sostenido por la solidaridad inter nacional e integrado por hombres y mujeres de distintos puntos del planeta, que básicamente se encargó de garantizar la asistencia sanitaria de mandada por las Brigadas Internacionales mien tras duró su intervención en España.

    Como resultados más interesantes de toda la investigación destacaría: De una parte, la inquie tud que la causa republicana fue capaz de gene rar en muchos ciudadanos de diferentes paises y la magnitud del apoyo solidario en que aquella Se tradujo. De otra parte, la importante labor sani taria que pudo ser llevada a cabo en España, plas mada en la creación de una infraestructura con siderable a nivel internacional y una red asisten cial eficaz, en algunos aspectos vanguardista, en nuestro país

    The Spanish Civil War of 1936-1939 was wit hout doubt the most painfúl event in our con temporany hyStory and thérefore any serious study of this period in the life of our country is fully justifled.

    The study presented here, a synthesis of a doc toral thesis witit the sanie tille, convers aspects of the war that are little known and that we can pla ce in tliree main groups: The first is dedicated to an overail analysis of the international solidarity movement organised during the conflict, in favour of Republican Spain.     the medical appaxatus supported by interantional solidarity and formed by men and wóinen frOm dif ferent parts of the planet that, basicafly, underto ok to guarantee medical assistance required by thé International Brigades during the time they were flghting in Spain.

    Sorne of the rnost interesting résults Of al! this research are: On tite one hand, the concern that the Republican cause was able to generate in so many citizéns of different countries and the maguitude of the solidarity support into which it tranOlated. On the other hand, there is the im portant medical work that could be carried out in Spain, culminating in the creation of a conside rable infrastructure at the international leve! and an effective network of aid established in our country that in sorne aspects was a leader iii this fleid.
