Se evaluo la actividad contra las bacterias Escherichia coli y Staphylococcus aureus, y el hongo Fusarium oxysporum de los extractos y fracciones de diferente polaridad de hojas y flores de la especie vegetal Chromolaena subscandens (Hieron.) R.M. King & H. Rob., empleando los metodos de difusion en gel por perforacion en placa y macrodilucion en placa respectivamente; se aislaron y purificaron con el uso de tecnicas cromatograficas once metabolitos secundarios, entre ellos 5,4-dihidroxi-7-metoxiflavonol, �À- estigmasterol, hidroquinona, y eicosanol, cuyas estructuras fueron elucidadas a traves de sus propiedades fisicas y quimicas y por el uso de tecnicas espectroscopicas (UV y RMN).

Different polarity Extracts and fractions from leaves and flowers of the plant species Chromolaena subscandens (Hieron.) R.M. King & H. Rob. were evaluated for activity against the bacteria Escherichia coli Staphylococcus aureus, and fungus Fusarium oxysporum using the methods of diffusion in gel by plate perforation and macrodilution in plate respectively. Eleven secondary metabolites were isolated and purified with the use of chromatographic techniques, among them, 5,4-dihydroxy-7-methoxyflavonol, â-estigmasterol, hydroquinone, and eicosanol; whose structures were elucidated through their physical and chemical properties and by the use of spectroscopic techniques (UV and RMN).
