Resumen de El museo y la enciclopedia: Lecturas cruzadas de Borges y Barnes

En este artículo se propone rescatar, a partir del cruce intertextual y biográfico de la obra de Borges en la de Julian Barnes, ciertas constantes de "lo borgeano" que nos hablan del estatus de lo literario en la actualidad. A partir de la figura de "el museo y la enciclopedia" nos permitiremos leer a Borges desde Barnes y viceversa, haciendo hincapié en la relativización de cualquier tipo de orden o clasificación y tomando como punto de partida la esencial desconfianza para con el lenguaje que evidencian ambos autores. Ya está claro que Borges es una figura difícil de superar o ignorar en el panorama literario y crítico de nuestro tiempo y que será utilizada aquí como máquina de lectura y escritura.

Taking in consideration the intertextual and biographical influence of the works of Jorge Luis Borges on the works of Julian Barnes, this article seeks to focus on certain borgian traces that speak of the status of literature in the present time. Starting with the image of the “museum and the encyclopedia” we can read Borges from a barnesian point of view and viceversa, while insisting in the relativity of any kind of order and classification. We shall start with the essential distrust that both authors show towards language. No one can deny that in the literary and critic landscape of our time Borges is a difficult character to overcome or ignore which we will use as a reading and writing mechanism.
