    • Gaila kirdiené and chris Goertzen base their work on close analysis of descriptive notation; kirdiené looks at the art of droning in Finnish fiddling; Goert- zen describes evolution in the crafting of varia- tions in texas contest fiddling. elaine bradke's focus is prescriptive notation, as she compares and contrasts various collected variants to de- termine the true sources for the repertoire of John robbins, an early "revivalist" morris Dance musician. emma nixon explores the transmission of style at modern day Scottish fiddling workshops, counting the number of bowing and noting ornaments that appear on recordings of these events, and then determin- ing how many such demonstrations were ac- companied by explicit instruction. lastly, two selections based primarily on personal experience focus on the state of con- temporary pedagogy in music and dance. cath- erine Foley describes her tenure as director of an mA program in step-dancing at the univer- sity of limerick and muses on the future of the genre.
