Resumen de Strategic determiners and factors of business management related to the defence industry

The 21st century presents a scenario ofchallenges in matters of security anddefence, in which the Spanish Armed Forces(FAS) and the Defence Systems (SDE) bothplay a fundamental role. As a result, theSpanish Armed Forces are immersed inprofessionalisation and modernisation,as derived from the European Security andDefence Policy, from the objectives presentedin the National Defence Directives, and theStrategic Defence Review. This situationmakes it necessary to count on companiesrelated to the defence industry whichfavour the new model of FAS and SDE.The objectives set out in this study are:1) the analysis of the determining factors for themodernisation and professionalisation of the FASand SDE; as well as, 2) the analysis of thepossible cooperation of the Ministry of Defence withExternal Organisations. We seek to highlightthe possible dependence between aspectslinked to the variables of the “Focus forthe Organisation of Defence (EOD)”, and itsresults, the innovation and the measures ofbusiness excellence. We focussed the designof the investigation towards the study of thestrategic determiners and the competitivechanges which have occurred in thecompanies related to the defence industry.

El siglo XXI presenta un escenario de cambiosen materia de seguridad y defensa. En estesentido, las Fuerzas Armadas Españolas (FAS)y los Sistemas de Seguridad y Defensa (SDE),tienen un papel fundamental. Como resultado, lasFuerzas Armadas Españolas están inmersas enuna profesionalización y modernización, derivadade la Política Europea de Seguridad y Defensa, losobjetivos de las Directivas de Defensa Nacional,y las Revisiones Estratégicas de Defensa. Estasituación, hace necesario contar con empresasrelacionadas con la industria de defensa quefavorezcan el nuevo modelo de FAS y SDE. Losobjetivos de este estudio son: 1) el análisis de los factoresdeterminantes de la modernización y profesionalización delas FAS, y los SDE; así como, 2) el análisis de la posiblecooperación del Ministerio de Defensa con OrganizacionesExternas. Con este propósito, establecemos unaperspectiva de la Organización de Defensa conciertas pretensiones de investigación, ligadas alestudio de los objetivos del “Modelo de FAS y losSDE”. Además, tratamos de poner de relieve lasposibles dependencias entre aspectos ligados a lasvariables del “Enfoque de la Organización de Defensa(EOD)”, y los resultados del mismo, la innovación ylas medidas de excelencia empresarial. Enfocamosel diseño de la investigación hacia el estudio de losdeterminantes estratégicos y cambios competitivosocurridos en las compañías relacionadas con laindustria de defensa.
