Our purpose is to discuss about the importance of obtaining a balance on work and life activities over leisure time. The impact this balance can have on health and individual and community wellbeing must play a central role when analyzing job productivity.
Manufacture industry in the State of Chihuahua is a significant contributor of jobs for men and women, and is a major contributor for the State´s economic growth. Through a selfreport questionnaire we assessed leisure time activities of 231 manufacture workers, located in the State of Chihuahua, Mexico. Workers reported having insufficient leisure time to participate in physical activities; sedentary activities were predominant among males and females. Motivation to participate in sedentary leisure activities was mostly recreational.
Women reported having less leisure time than men. We concluded life work balance is impaired in this sample of workers with eight and more working hours of daily labor, affecting their risk of suffering diabetes and cardiovascular diseases.
