    En casi todas las industrias hay desgaste de piezas y maquinaria, por lo cual se requiere de minimizar este desgaste y recuperar estas piezas obteniendo una mayor relación costo- beneficio, además de aumentar las horas de servicio y la eficiencia de los equipos. Para hacer una buena selección del tipo de revestimiento protector y su aplicación, se necesita conocer los tipos de desgaste a los que puede estar sometido la pieza que se quiere proteger. Los recubrimientos duros pueden controlar todos los tipos de desgaste, pero un mismo recubrimiento no soluciona todos los tipos de desgaste.

    Almost all the industries have wearing of pieces and machinery, thus is required to diminish this wearing and recover these pieces obtaining a greater relation cost- benefit, besides to increase to the hours in service and the efficiency of the equipment. In order to make a good selection of the type of protective coating and its application, it is needed to know the types wearing to which it can be put under the piece that is wanted to protect. The hard coatings can control all the types of wearing down, but the same coating does not solve all the types of wearing.
