Este artículo trata, en primer lugar, sobre corrientes de pensamiento y figuras de la lingüística cuyas obras enfatizan la "función identificadora" del lenguaje. Se le da especial atención a la "escuela idealista" que floreció en Alemania. El artículo examina, también, la manera en que esta función aparece en fenómenos socio lingüísticos de diferentes sociedades, inc1uyendo la capital Colombiana.

This article deals about, firstly, currents of thought and figures of linguistics whose works emphasize the "identifying function" of language. Particular attention is given to the "idealist school" that flourished in Germany. This article also examines, the way in which this function appears in social and linguistic phenomena of different societies, including the Colombian one.
