Resumen de Un modelo de optimización para la economía mexicana

Óscar Fernández García

  • Mexico is characterized as part of the group of developing countries. There is a dual labor market in which coexist a formal economy, whose workers have access to social insurance, as well as to funds of pensions, and an informal sector with more than 28% of labor force. Informal sector produces around 12% of gross domestic product. Workers of Informal sector do not have social insurance, and their productivity and income are smaller than those of the formal sector. To research characteristics of labor market, considering the duality of it, allows to establish some recommendations to improve the operation of this market. A set of theories related to labor market and economic growth are discussed. In this research, Arthur Lewis´ dual theory is partially taken to study economic conditions of developing countries like Mexico. A mathematical model considering a dual system of labor market is proposed. The economy is divided into formal and informal sectors, and is applied an algorithm of stochastic dynamic optimization; this model allows to analyze the particular characteristics of Mexican economy.
