Resumen de Teoría de los sistemas de ecuaciones de demanda: el caso del (les) y (eles). Una aplicación al consumo de los hogares en las regiones colombianas en 2008

  • This paper aims to conduct a historical review, a theoretical analysis and an empirical application of two sets of demand equations (Linear Expenditure System, LES, and extended version ELES), this to explain the contributions of most important authors, in this topic of theory's consumer, followed by a microeconomic and econometric analysis of the conditions necessary to develop the LES and ELES.

    We review some estimates from Colombia based on these models, and finally using SAS statistical software, and using the Quality of Life Survey 2008, we estimate the cost of life (poverty line) and elasticities different for 9 regions of Colombia. Among the most important application, we conclude that Bogota and San Andrés present living costs per-capita higher in the country, the groups´ expenditure of food and housing is a necessary good for all regions, and the group of other fees and taxes, deductions mandatory behave as luxury goods.
