  • Resumen
    • An ebony and ivory table from the "Camerino" of the Palazzo Farnese.

A table made of ebony and ivory bearing the arms of a Cardinal Farnese can be identified in the inventory of the Palazzo Farnese in 1644. It was in the bedroom of the Cardinal Odoardo that was known as the "camerino", painted by Annibale Carracci. The engraved ivory plates reproduce the illustrations of a 1559 edition from Lyons of Ovid's "Metamorphoses" intended for Italy. By its type and its style, the table belongs to a group of furniture produced in Naples from the end of the 16th century, and can be considered to have been commissioned around 1597, in Naples, by the Cardinal Odoardo.
