Noh Theatre is one of the traditional Japanese performing arts which originated in the Middle Ages. It is a kind of musical. Based on a small part of a piece of Noh - "Hagoromo", the story of a celestial nymph who had her bell stolen and was prevented from returning to heaven - participants will practise the basic forms of dance (Shimai) and song (Utai). For the dance, Japanese fans will be used. If participants take a fan - Western or any other type will do - it will be very helpful. Basically, the dance is performed on the stage without shoes (socks will suffice instead of the original tabi). The vertical Japanese music score of Utai will be converted into a horizontal one.

Participants will learn that vocalization in the chanting of a Noh text is entirely different from the Western one and that it has its own particular rhythm.
