El poeta Celio Sedulio compuso, hacia el año 445, su poema "Carmen Paschale", un poema épico-bíblico en 5 libros; posteriormente, la versión en prosa, el "Opus Paschale". En su obra aparecen varios textos programáticos que tienen una gran importancia para una poética cristiana del final de la Antigüedad Tardía. Presentamos una estructuración del Libro I del Carmen Paschale, y proponemos la idea de que se trata de una panoplia de posible géneros de la poesía cristiana, influida por lo que hace Prudencio en su obra completa.

The poet Caelius Sedulius wrote, ca. 445 A.D., his poem "Carmen Paschale", a biblical epic in 5 books; afterwards, he wrote the prose version, the "Opus Paschale". In his work we find several "programmatic" sections which have a great importance por a Christian Poetics at the End of Late Antiquity. We analyse the different elements of this poetic programme: especially the contrast of Pagan and Christian poetry, and the contradictions inside this contrast. The expression "ritu magistro" may express a certain positive regard of the compositional features of pagan epics. Anyway, the "Carmen Paschale" has a strong structural influence of Ovid's Metamorphoses. We propose as well a structuration for Book 1 of the "Carmen Paschale", and we express the idea that this book is really a "panoply" or "show of possibilities" for different new genres of Christian poetry, under the influence of Prudentius' great Oeuvre.
