The analysis of the chemical composition of Early Bronze Age ring jewellery and flanged axes shows considerable differences. Tin was initially added to create a gold-like colour. This is indicated by the higher tin content of ring jewellery at the beginning of the Bronze Age. During the course of the Early Bronze Age, tin was used increasingly in the production of flanges axes. In contrast, the tin component in ring jewellery varied during all stages of the Early Bronze Ages. The preferred use of tin-bronze for weapons and tools meant that, after 300-400 years of technological development, the functional improvement of the material's properties became more important than the gold-like colour. The differing tin proportions in rings and flange axes make probable a control of this scarce resource.
