    La presente investigación, basada en la aplicación de la propuesta metodológica para el ordenamiento territorial de la actividad turística, planteada por Jarrín y Román (2010), ha buscado, por una parte, determinar la potencialidad turística de la Parroquia de Tumbaco, a fin de poder valorizarla.

    Por otra parte, la investigación se ha fundamentado en la identificación de los atractivos turísticos, servicios básicos, servicios turísticos, situación económica y social del lugar, en donde se ha destacado el criterio de sus pobladores, de quienes se ha obtenido información referente a la forma cómo ellos ven a su lugar de residencia en los actuales momentos, cuál es su percepción de seguridad e inseguridad y cuáles son sus apreciaciones y aspiraciones con relación a que Tumbaco pueda convertirse en un lugar apetecido por los turistas, tomando en consideración la presencia del nuevo aeropuerto Mariscal Sucre, muy cerca de su parroquia.

    The current investigation is based on the methodological proposal application for the territorial arrangements of the touristic activity which was presented by Jarrin and Roman (2010), it has looked for one way to determine the touristic potentiality of the Tumbaco Parish in order to valorize it. On the other hand the investigation has been based on the identification of the touristic attractions, basic services, tourist services, economic and social situation of that place, where the criteria of its people has been highlighted, from whose information has been obtained in the way how they see their place of residency nowadays, their perception of security and insecurity, and which are their perceptions and expectations in relation on how Tumbaco may be converted into a long place for tourists, taking into account the location of the new Mariscal Sucre airport which is very close to this parish.
