    This article aims to analyze the representations of students entering and graduating about training course for teachers in Physical Education. The investigate was used the concept of representation from the perspective of Cultural Studies. For data collection we used open and closed questionnaire. The study subjects were 35 students of both sexes, in a private institution located in Cuiaba, Mato Grosso, Brasil. As a result we shown that the early students were still with the technical view (esportivista) and graduates extend their representations to have contact with the academic knowledge presenting a blurred vision on Physical Education. It is suggested in other research institutions for future comparisons of results providing a greater understanding about the identity representations of physical education.

    Este artigo tem como objetivo analisar as representações de alunos ingressantes e concluintes sobre a formação de professores em Educação Física. Para a investigação utilizou-se como categoria de estudos o conceito de representação sob a ótica dos Estudos Culturais. Para a coleta de dados foi utilizado questionário com perguntas abertas e fechadas. Os sujeitos pesquisados foram 35 alunos de licenciatura, de ambos os sexos, em uma instituição privada localizada em Cuiabá no estado de Mato Grosso, sendo que 22 alunos são ingressantes e 13 concluintes. Concluiu-se que os alunos ingressantes encontravam-se ainda com uma visão tecnicista (esportivista) e os concluintes ampliaram suas representações ao terem contato com os saberes acadêmicos apresentando uma visão difusa sobre a Educação Física. Por não perceber-se na análise uma postura crítica por parte dos alunos aos aspectos ligados à formação acadêmica, sugerem-se pesquisas em outras instituições para futuras comparações de resultados proporcionando um maior entendimento quanto as representações identitárias da Educação Física.
