Case report: Lebanese 58-year-old female patient, who presents decreased visual acuity (VA) in her left eye (LE). Exploration discovers retinal periphlebitis that improves with enterally supplied corticoids. Three months later there is new visual loss in her left eye, and retinal ischemia is observed in the area that was previously affected. The condition seems to be related to Eales disease and peripheral retinal ischemia is later revealed, being compatible with Eales disease. Laboratory tests prove positive Mantoux and QuantiFERON. After systemic TB treatment, the patient progresses favorably.
Discussion: Eales disease is a retinal vasculitis that affects the peripheral retina predominantly. Although it has been linked to tuberculosis, its pathogenesis is unknown.
