  • Resumen
    • The article looks at U.S. nuclear weapons policy as of 2014, focusing on tactical nuclear weapons. The authors note that most U.S. tactical nuclear weapons were retired in the 1990s and present a case for the removal of the remaining U.S. tactical nuclear weapons located in Europe. They cite the conventional military superiority of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) over Russia, which they say renders the original intended use of tactical nuclear weapons in Europe, dating to the Cold War era, irrelevant. They also cite the cost of maintaining the weapons as well as of modifying new aircraft so as to be able to deliver them as reasons to retire them. Topics include the U.S. strategic nuclear arsenal and Russia's 2014 intervention in Ukraine.
