  • Resumen
    • The article explores the role of the U.S. government, especially the involvement of its Central Intelligence Agency, in the 1953 coup against Iranian Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddeq and the establishment of shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. It argues that an understanding of historical relations between the U.S. and Iran would foster better contemporary international relations between the two countries. Topics considered include decolonization and Iran in the post-World War II era, the dispute over ownership of the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company, and Cold War politics.
