La mirada de una madre. Relato biográfico sobre las secuelas de una sepsis meningocócica

    Resumen La sepsis meningocócica es una patología de elevada mortalidad (del 20 al 50%) y morbilidad. En relación a las secuelas originadas por esta enfermedad, la amputación de uno o varios miembros implica no sólo una modificación del estado físico del sujeto sino que también afecta a los aspectos emocionales y sociales del mismo. Cuando estas circunstancias confluyen en un niño, la familia sufre un proceso de transformación vital que merece especial atención en los abordajes investigativos.

    Teniendo en cuenta estos aspectos, en este estudio, haciendo uso del relato biográfico, se plantea describir el proceso de afrontamiento llevado a cabo por la madre de una niña que sufre la amputación de uno de los miembros inferiores tras padecer una sepsis meningocócica.

    Para ello se seleccionó a Lola (nombre ficticio), que nos muestra los sentimientos que surgieron a raíz de la enfermedad que padeció su hija, el duelo, los mecanismos generados por ella para afrontar esta situación, las secuelas, la adaptación de la niña en el día a día y la lucha por conseguir una prótesis que se adapte a las distintas etapas del crecimiento de su hija.

    Abstract (The eyes of a mother. Biographical account about the aftermath of a meningococcal sepsis) Meningococcal sepsis is a disease of high mortality (20 to 50%) and morbilidad. In relationship to the aftermath caused by this disease, amputation of one or more members not only involves a change in the physical condition of the subject but also affects the emotional and social aspects. When these circumstances come together in a child, the family undergoes a process of transformation vital that deserves special attention in the research approaches.

    Considering these aspects, in this study, using the biographical narrative, arises describe the coping process carried out by the mother of a girl who suffers amputation of the lower limbs after suffering meningococcal sepsis.

    This was selected Lola (fictitious name) , which shows the feelings that arose from the illness suffered by her daughter, grief, mechanisms generated by it to address this situation, the aftermath, the adaptation of the girl in everyday and the struggle for a prosthesis that fits the different stages of growth of your child.
