Abstract (Maternal care in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) Healthcare activity of nurses working in neonatal intensive care units is highly qualified. Furthermore, they are the guarantors of many pediatric patient cares, which usually is provided by the mother in regular situations. The relationship between mother and child during the admissions in these units is typically limited to the contact through the incubator, without disputing the need for other care by the mother. This narrative is intended to communicate a way forward in the nurse-mother relationship and in what way communication can be more effective between them, which lead to meet the expectations of parents and improve their relationship with their child.
