Motivaciones de la madre para amamantar: una experiencia a partir de la capacidad de escuchar.

    Son muchos los estudios sobre las ventajas de lactar y las causas de abandono de la lactancia materna, pero no se exploran los motivos para lactar; esto motivó el presente estudio sobre motivaciones de la madre para amamantar. Se realizó un estudio cualitativo, utilizando una entrevista no estructurada a 11 madres que utilizan los servicios de una institución de bajo nivel de complejidad. Las entrevistas se hicieron hasta que se saturó el campo y se construyeron con las respuestas tres categorías de análisis: Determinantes individuales, determinantes familiares y determinantes sociales. Se encontró que los motivos de las madres para amamantar son: preservar la salud del hijo, disminuir el gasto, porque es más fácil que preparar teteros, porque se lo sugiere el personal de salud, porque es tradición dentro de la familia y principalmente porque es una expresión de amor. Se destaca la importancia que en la decisión de amamantar juegan el apoyo de la pareja, de la familia, la educación en lactancia materna durante el control prenatal y durante el posparto inmediato.     Many studies on the benefits of breastfeeding and causes of abandonment of breastfeeding, but not explored the reasons to breastfeed, that motivated this study on the motivations of the mother to breastfeed. We conducted a qualitative study, using an unstructured interview with 11 mothers who use the services of an institution of low complexity. Interviews were conducted until the field was saturated and the responses were constructed three categories of analysis: individual determinants, family determinants and social determinants. It the importance that the decision to breastfeed play the support of the couple and the family and education on breastfeeding during the prenatal and immediate postpartum.
