  • Resumen
    • The Times BFI 51st London Film Festival boasts a real bumper of a programme, which is as it should be since both Cannes and Venice were themselves bursting with great cinema this year's. Nowadays London has the heft and influence to take the cream of both these A-list events and more to deliver on its promise of showing the year's best films from across the globe. Hence some of the highlights, such as Todd Haynes's I'm Not There, Ang Lee's Lust, Caution and Andrew Dominik's The Assassination of Jesse James...can be read about in our Venice report on page 38. Here David Cronenberg, whose London-set Russian gangster drama Eastern Promises opens the festival, talks about tattoos and naked violence with Edward Ñawremspm, and we preview recommendations from Geoff Bown, Kate Ogborn and Nick James. Suffice to say that you'll be hard pushed to catch even half of what's in store-but it's glorious viewing all the way.
