  Una de las tareas pendientes que debe resolverse en el país en los próximos años es, sin duda, hacer efectivo el derecho de los mexicanos residentes en el extranjero a votar en las elecciones federales y locales respectivas y, en su momento, lograr también que tengan espacios de representación en los congresos a efecto de hacer valer su voz en las decisiones nacionales. En este ensayo pretendo analizar las circunstancias que han rodeado los esfuerzos realizados para consolidar este derecho.
