  • Resumen
    • In the last few years, it has notably increased the number of people, quite especially in the health industry, which present allergic reactions to the proteins found in latex. This is due to, above all, the increase in the materials that latex contains in its composition and to its increasing utilization in the in and out of hospital environments. Latex is a habitual component in many health products of frequent use, like the disposable gloves, syringes, catheters, sounds and infusion equipment, among others. Many of these materials during their use enter into contact with the mucus, which allows for the absorption of the proteins of latex that may unchain an allergic reaction. This fact has created a great preoccupation in the health industry and has generated the necessity of establishing acting protocols for patients allergic to latex, for elaborating listings in with the available health materials free of latex are stated, for checking out the material to be used in each case, as well as to avoid every latex product and treat in a quick and efficient way the allergic reactions in case of their occurrence
